“Houston, we don’t have a problem. But we have found our future engineers.”

With astronauts and NASA staff watching, a team from a Toronto high school presented their Lunar Ejecting Robot prototype at the finals of an educational initiative held at the renowned NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas this week.

The team from Victoria Park Collegiate, supported by the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education at Oshawa’s Ontario Tech University, had qualified for the project-based NASA HUNCH program, the first group of Canadian high schoolers to do so.

During the final design showcase, the six Victoria Park students presented a critical design review of their prototype, including a detailed cost breakdown.
