Toronto man in custody after break-in attempt in Ontario village made famous by Schitt’s Creek [Video]

A Toronto man is in custody after the exterior of a home and several cars in the driveway in the village of Goodwood in Uxbridge Township were damaged during a break-in attempt in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police responded to a break-and-enter in progress call at Highway 47 and Goodwood Road at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. Police said a man attempted to gain entry into the residence, causing “extensive damage” to the exterior and several vehicles in the driveway.  The residents were home at the time and no physical injuries were reported.

The suspect fled prior to police arrival but was identified shortly after and officers arrested him without incident.

Brian Maschke, 50, is charged with break-and-enter with intent, four counts of mischief/damage over $5,000, uttering threats, and several probation breaches.

He was held for a bail hearing.
