The Maple Leafs fan belt, passed on from supporter to supporter after every game this post season, made an appearance outside the Tribute Centre Wednesday as a super fan of both the Leafs and the Oshawa Generals hopes a little of the fan belt magic rubs off tonight when Oshawa visits London for game one of the OHL finals.
Brian Evinou – an Oshawa animator and artist best known for his daily caricatures of Toronto Maple Leafs’ players and known on social media as @BrianBeLeafs – earned the right to wear the belt for game one of the second round, a 5-4 win by the Leafs.
Evinou, who grew up in Oshawa, arriving in the city as a youngster in time for the Eric Lindros-led run by the Generals to the 1990 Memorial Cup championship, now teaches animation at Durham College.
