Traffic woes on eastbound Highway 401 through Oshawa are expected to continue until late this evening after a tractor-trailer hauling new aluminum cans hit a concrete abutment and caught fire early this morning.

The truck fire broke out near Ritson Road just after 6 a.m. and all eastbound lanes on the highway were closed until one was opened around 10 a.m.

Two lanes remained closed for emergency road work, with the work expected to continue until late Tuesday evening.

No injuries were reported.
