A man killed at the scene of a horrific incident which brought Melbourne’s CBD to a standstill on Friday night has been identified as a 76-year-old man from Brunswick.

Another driver, a passenger and three pedestrians standing at a tram stop were also hospitalised, after a 26-year-old male from Melton West allegedly drove his Toyota sedan into them at two Bourke St intersections about 6.20pm.

The pedestrians ploughed through at the Bourke St and Swanston St intersection tram stop were all hospitalised.

A 23-year-old female pedestrian from China was treated for a head injury and taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria police said.
