DAWSON CREEK –The slopes are ready for opening night at the Bear Mountain Ski Hill. This is thanks to the volunteers, like Bryan Harman. He is looking forward to the season kicking off.

“I’m tremendously excited that it is opening day today, it’s the earliest open we’ve had in a long long time,” shares Harman.

The snow Dawson Creek has seen this past month has made all the difference. This is the earliest the hill has opened in almost a decade. After a few years without much snow, this could mean good things for the bottom line.

However, even on days where it may not have snowed in a while, the team can make artificial snow with the help of a snow gun.

“We have the ability, on two runs, to make artificial snow so that’s what we need the cold for. That snow is more dense than natural …
