Mounties in Richmond, B.C., are looking for witnesses to a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck driver suspected of impaired driving.
A statement from the Richmond RCMP says officers responded to the crash at Sea Island Way and Great Canadian Way shortly after 8 p.m. on Dec. 12.
The driver of a grey 2023 Hyundai Elantra told investigators he was rear-ended by a semi-truck, saying he could smell alcohol on the truck driver’s breath, according to police.
Mounties ultimately arrested the truck driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, the statement said.
Investigators are now seeking witnesses and dash-camera video of the vehicles involved in the collision taken between 7:50 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 12.
“Richmond RCMP is aware of potential footage of this collision circulating on social media and are asking anyone who may have footage to come forward,” the statement said.
