Prime Minister Justin Trudeau defended his government during question period in the House of Commons on Wednesday, against an ongoing controversy regarding allegations of foreign election interference in the 2019 and 2022 Canadian elections. Pressed by the leader of the Official Opposition, Pierre Poilievre, about a Global News report that said Trudeau and his government were briefed on two high-level national security reports before and after the 2019 election, Trudeau said the information was available to all MPs. “I’m happy to clear up the confusion about what the committee reports — yes, the committee reports to me and the government, but it also reports to parliamentarians and shares those reports,” Trudeau said.
