Tariffs on Canadian goods imposed by Donald Trump and the U.S. government took hold Tuesday, marking the start of a North American trade war. Follow the Star’s live updates.

11:50 a.m. Premier Doug Ford is now expected to meet with reporters at noon at Queen’s Park to discuss Ontario’s response. The premier was awaiting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to complete his news conference in Ottawa. Ford, Trudeau and the other first ministers will hold a virtual meeting at 2:30 p.m.
