Trump Reiterates Intention for U.S. to Annex Canada [Video]

President Donald Trump incorrectly referred to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “Governor Trudeau” while doubling down on his intention to annex the country.

Trump on Thursday fielded questions from reporters inside the Oval Office. While talking about trade with our countries, the president pivoted to Canada and listed off reasons the U.S.’s northern neighbor should welcome the idea of becoming the 51st state.

“Canada, their taxes would come down greatly,” he said. “Their security would go up greatly. Amazing things happen to Canada; and really, Canada in this particular — why would we pay $200 billion a year in subsidies to Canada when they’re not a state? You do that for a state, but you don’t do that for somebody else’s country; so I think Canada is going to be a very serious contender to be our 51st state.”

Trump then commented on the tariff situation between the U.S. and Canada, adding:
