Two Dead in Gretna High-Speed Crash, Driver Arrested for Homicide [Video]

Authorities have not yet released the victims’ names pending notification of their families. The crash remains under investigation.

GRETNA, La. — Two people died and three others were injured after a high-speed crash Saturday evening in Gretna.

The driver struck multiple vehicles before colliding with a parked car occupied by two people who sustained fatal injuries, authorities said.    

Stephan Juarez, 33, was driving a 2015 GMC truck eastbound in the 700 block of Fourth Street at excessive speed when he crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2011 GMC Yukon, according to the Gretna Police Department. 

The Yukon’s driver and two passengers sustained minor injuries.

Police say Juarez then continued eastbound, hitting a parked 2022 Honda Pilot before veering into oncoming traffic. 

He then left the roadway and crashed head-on into a parked 2020 Volvo XC9, police said. 

A passenger was seated in the Volvo’s rear seat, while another person had exited the vehicle and was standing nearby. …
