One of Durham Region’s oldest craft brewery continues to produce top notch brews with a four-pack of medals, including two golds, at the Ontario Brewing Awards in Niagara-on-the-Lake on the weekend.
Old Flame Brewing of Port Perry earned gold for Brunette – one of its flagship beers – in the Dark European Lager category and top marks in the Historical Beer category (appropriate for a brewery housed in the former Ontario Works built in 1884) for Hazy Blonde.
Old Flame also took home silver medals for Blonde (Pale Malty European Lager) and Red (Amber Bitter European Beer).
The brewery, which opened in Port Perry in 2014 (they opened a second location in Newmarket in 2021), is Canada’s most awarded craft lager house and Brunette is a big reason why, taking gold medals at the Canadian Brewing Awards in 2017 and 2019.
