Ontario Premier Doug Ford has named two Brampton MPPs to his cabinet, positions they held before the recent provincial election.
Prabmeet Sarkaria of Brampton South and Charmaine Williams of Brampton Centre will continue to be part of Ford’s inner circle and be responsible for leading the direction of their particular ministry.
Williams will continue in her role as Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity, a position she has held since 2022.
The office is responsible for assisting in the removal of barriers so more women can excel as entrepreneurs, in business, leadership roles, skilled trades and in sectors where the need is greatest.
This is done through increasing women’s participation in the workforce by:
- making workplaces safer for women
- supporting affordable childcare options
- offering targeted employment, skills development, and training opportunities
- providing programs that help all women overcome barriers and achieve financial independence – including Indigenous and racialized women, new Canadians, and people with disabilities.
