Up to 20 C snow to impact New Year’s Eve in southern Ontario [Video]

Snow is back in the forecast for New Year’s Eve in Ontario.

After mild temperatures, heavy rain and wind this week, the weather is expected to turn again.

A system is expected to move through the province bringing 10 to 20 cm to some areas, according to Instant Weather.

The precipitation is forecast to start gradually Tuesday afternoon transiting to snow in parts of the province as revealers ring in the New Year at midnight, the weather forecaster states.

The snow is expected to continue through New Year’s Day.

The heaviest snow accumulation is likely to be in central and eastern Ontario.

Environment and Climate Change Canada forecast a more modest amount of snow — around 10 to 15 cm in areas north of the GTA.

In the GTA, around two cm of snow could fall on Wednesday with more snow expected through the week as temperatures drop, Environment Canada said.
