Up to 75 mm of rain expected in parts of southern Ontario [Video]

A rainfall warning continues in southern Ontario.

Prince Edward County, Napanee, and Kingston were under a special weather statement on Tuesday.

Environment and Climate Change Canada upgraded the statement to a warning for these areas.

Radar indicates 50 to 75 mm of rain has fallen over eastern parts of Prince Edward County, Environment Canada said in the warning on Wednesday morning.

The heaviest rain has shifted west where total rainfall amounts near 50 mm can be expected through Wednesday morning.

Areas to the north of Napanee, including Bancroft, were under a special weather statement on Wednesday.

Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm were expected Tuesday through to Wednesday morning.

The slow-moving area of showers will gradually taper and shift eastward Wednesday morning, the statement said.

Rainfall amounts may vary considerably across the area. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
