An Upstate New York man has been caught after cutting off his ankle monitor and disappearing, police say.
WROC reports Daniel Sevigny, 43, was found at a home in Canandaigua on Tuesday, more than two weeks after he attempted to flee. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office put out a public plea for help finding him Monday, and credited an anonymous tip with getting him back into custody.
Sevigny, also known as “Zero,” is a registered sex offender that is facing sentencing for predatory sexual assault. Sheriff’s deputies said he removed his ankle monitor on March 14.
According to WHAM, Sevigny was previously convicted of rape and sodomy involving a 13-year-old girl in 2001. He’s due back in Ontario County Court to answer a bench warrant for predatory sexual assault.
