U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested a Ukrainian man wanted for attempted murder in Florida at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo say they have recently arrested a Ukrainian man who was wanted for attempted murder in Florida.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say Ruslan Anatoliyovych Chernotkach, 48, was refused entry into Canada. Following an inspection, investigators say the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) found Chernotkach was wanted on a warrant by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Orlando.

Chernotkach was taken into custody and taken to another location for further investigation and questioning. 

Officers say they were able to verify Chernotkach’s identity and confirmed the active felony warrant out of Florida with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
