In the small village of Dixville Notch in New Hampshire, the first results of today’s U.S. election were announced early Tuesday morning.

Foreshadowing the ultimate derby in the coming hours, the ballot box produced a tie (3-3) between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

The small village located near the Canadian border opened and closed the polls just before midnight (eastern U.S. time) in a tradition that has been running since 1960.

Four registered Republican voters and two who had not expressed their intentions showed up at the polls, CNN reported.

In 2020 and 2016, Dixville Knotts had voted for the Democratic candidate. In 2020, five single-issue votes had been counted for Joe Biden, and in 2016 four votes out of a total of seven had gone to Hillary Clinton with the remaining three going to Trump and Gary Johnson.
