Over 10,000 hotel workers across the US went on strike on Sunday to demand better pay and improved working conditions, as reported by CNN.

Unite Here, which represents workers in hotels, casinos, and airports across the US and Canada, has announced that thousands of workers at 25 hotels are on strike in major travel destinations including San Francisco, San Diego, Honolulu, Boston, Seattle, and Greenwich, Connecticut, as reported by Reuters.

Additional cities are expected to join the strike as the Labor Day weekend progresses. This action comes amid a 9 per cent increase in domestic travel for Labor Day weekend compared to last year, according to AAA booking data.

According to the union, hotel workers are being stretched thin, with management often assigning three staff members to handle the workload of four. This situation leads to excessive stress and prioritises speed over quality of service.
