About 55,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have been striking for two weeks.

WASHINGTON — The United States Postal Service announced a temporary suspension of international mail services to Canada because of the ongoing national strike by Canadian postal workers.

The service disruption impacts multiple mail and package delivery categories, including Priority Mail Express International, First-Class Mail International, and various other international shipping services. Customers should refrain from mailing items to Canada until further notice.

The strike, which began Nov. 15, involves approximately 55,000 postal workers in the Canadian Union of Postal Workers who have been in negotiations for nearly a year with Canada Post. Union representatives claim they have been seeking fair wages, improved working conditions, and other critical workplace improvements.

Canada Post warned that in addition to current delays, processing and delivery may require significant time to return to normal once the strike ends.
