Very high fire danger Wednesday with a few PM storms possible [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Winds will increase tonight into Wednesday. As a result, fire danger levels will be very high. If a fire were to start, it could spread rapidly due to the conditions. Do your part in preventing wildfires from starting.

Temperatures will vary across KOTA Territory. It will be cooler to the north and west as a cool front passes through earlier in the day, but temperatures around Rapid City and areas south/east will be much warmer with many in the 90s as it will take a bit longer for the front to pass through.

The front could spark a few showers and storms on the plains east of the Black Hills. The best chance for strong to severe storms will be closer to the Missouri River with hail and wind as the primary threats.
