Video released by police appears to show the moment arsonists set vehicles on fire in Markham last weekend.
York Regional Police said it happened at an outdoor vehicle storage lot in the area of Heritage and McCowan roads.
Police responded to the scene shortly before 12 p.m. Sunday and learned that the fire occurred overnight at around 3 a.m. and extinguished on its own.
Police said that 13 vehicles were “heavily damaged.”
No injuries were reported.
“Video surveillance shows a dark, four-door sedan arrive with two occupants, wearing dark clothing, exiting the vehicle,” police said.
“What appears to be an accelerant is poured on numerous vehicles and ignited. The suspects re-enter the vehicle, driven by a third suspect, and flee.”
Anyone with information on the incident was asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
