An e-scooter rider was spotted on Highway 403 in Mississauga and part of the unlawful trip was caught on video.
The nine-second video captures the rider travelling westbound on the highway near the Hurontario Street on-ramp, according to a June 11 post on the Mississauga sub-Reddit.
The video shows a young person checking a cellphone with earbuds in while riding the e-scooter.
“Lol wow. No helmet. Ear buds in, and is this moron looking at his phone?” one person wrote on Reddit.
There were no reports of the incident to police on Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told INsauga.com.
Like bicycles, e-scooters are not permitted on highways in Ontario, according to the province. Riders could face fines of up to $2,500 for violations.
Other Canadian provinces have different regulations, including British Columbia where e-scooters are allowed on certain highways.
