VIDEO: Parking garage partially collapses in Ontario [Video]

Video shows the moment a parking garage partially collapsed in Ontario overnight.

It happened in Ottawa at 265 Laurier Ave West, which is downtown, a few blocks away from Parliament Hill.

Ottawa firefighters said that emergency crews received a 911 call at around 4:55 p.m. Tuesday from a person reporting damage to a column in the garage.

The individual thought someone should investigate.

“Our technical rescue teams, including our structural collapse team, were dispatched to the scene,” firefighters said.

“Upon arrival, it was confirmed 5-6 girders, the main horizontal support of a structure, were bowing and the structural integrity was compromised. The top floor of the six-storey parking garage, which is not covered, was confirmed to have a heavy snow load on it.”
