A truck plowed through a jewelry store in a daylight robbery in southwestern Ontario on Thursday morning.
The driver of the black Dodge Ram pickup intentionally reversed into the front window to enter Harmony House Jewellers on Main Street in Grimsby just before 11:30 a.m., Niagara Regional Police said.
Five people were in the truck and four entered the store with hammers and axes and proceeded to break glass cases to grab jewelry and watches, police said.
The driver of the pickup then walked across the street to an unoccupied, parked white Honda CRV, according to police, and all five culprits fled the scene in the Honda.
As they were attempting to drive off, a firearm was pointed at a person attempting to stop the escape, police said.
The firearm is described as a black handgun with a narrow silver barrel.
