VPD seeks witnesses to crash that killed 85-year-old man [Video]

An 85-year-old man has died in hospital after a driver struck him in East Vancouver earlier this month. Now, police are seeking witnesses and video of the collision.

The Vancouver Police Department issued an appeal for information about the Dec. 15 crash Tuesday, saying the victim’s injuries “were not initially believed to be life-threatening.”

He died in hospital on Dec. 24, nine days after the incident, police said in an email to CTV News.

The crash occurred around 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of Victoria Drive and East Broadway, police said.

As the man was attempting to cross Victoria Drive on the north side, he was struck by a 2001 Toyota Sienna, according to the VPD.

Police said they have identified the driver as an 83-year-old Vancouver woman.
