Warroad hockey unveils Every Child Matters jersey [Video]

WARROAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – Next month the Warroad boys and girls hockey teams will be wearing special “Every Child Matters” jerseys in support of Warroads journey of truth and reconciliation.

The jerseys were designed by the Warroad Indian Education Department to help honor the rich Native American history and culture in Warroad.

The jerseys are intricately detailed and help tell a story. The orange in the jersey represents the initiative in support of “Truth and Reconciliation” while the star pattern under the historic Warrior logo represents Warroads journey, with the four highlighted points representing the four directions, the four sacred medicines, and the continuous cycle of life.

The continuous arrows on the star also have a deep meaning symbolizing the path moving forward which may have more significance after the school had to file an appeal last year to keep their historic logo and name after language in …
