Ways you can protect yourself when the air quality worsens [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – With the Canadian wildfires raging, smoke is set to migrate south into the Mid-Ohio Valley.

According to the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, the smoke polluting the air will cause the air quality to decline.

Poor air quality can negatively impact those with breathing problems such as asthma and COPD.

The smoke in the air can irritate airways and make it hard to breath.

The MOVHD advises those with breathing problems to remain indoors as much as possible.

Amy Phelps, the Public Information Officer for the MOVHD, said it is important to be aware of the potential health risks.
