U.S. tariffs of 25 percent on goods from Canada and Mexico took effect on March 4. President Donald Trump said on March 3: “Tomorrow, tariffs, 25 percent on Canada and 25 percent on Mexico, and that will start … So what they are going to have to do is (to) build their car plants and other things in the United States.”
