A weather advisory is in effect for fog in parts of southern Ontario.

Dense fog has developed and is expected to persist into early Friday morning before dissipating, Environment and Climate Change Canada said in the advisory.

The advisory is in effect for Durham Region, Markham, Richmond Hill and extends up to Georgina.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.

If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility.
