HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – When you think about last summer’s weather, chances are the smoky air and brilliant red skies come to mind.

Western Canada wildfire smoke lit up the skies across much of the eastern and midwestern USA in 2023. This summer, the fires are back though with less acreage and less intensity.

Tony tracks the smoke this summer and says the source points may be the same, but the affected areas downwind are far different thanks to the jet stream winds aloft.

Those same air currents are giving us (teasing us) with beneficial rains during the drought summer we are in.
