WEATHER WARNING: Up to 50 mm of rainfall coming to southern Ontario [Video]

Storm watches have been upgraded to warnings as there’s up to 50 mm of rain expected to hit southern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area on Wednesday.

Environment Canada upgraded the special weather statement issued for Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Toronto and much of the Golden Horseshoe to a rainfall warning on Tuesday.

The weather agency says heavy rain is on the way with between 30 mm to 50 mm possible. Some areas could see even higher amounts of rainfall as thunderstorms sweep across the province.

The rain is expected to hit on Wednesday morning and last until early on Thursday.

There’s also a chance of freezing rain throughout the day on Wednesday

Areas further south of the GTA like London, Kitchener and the Niagara Falls area will also see heavy rain up to 50 mm. Oshawa and Durham Region are also under a freezing rain warning with around 2 mm …
