A sauce and beverage company bringing the spices and flavours of west Africa to Canadian kitchens – already with a successful pitch to Dragon’s Den in its back pocket – has been awarded $40,000 from the province to help address local labour challenges.

Taltis Foods, founded by a Cameroonian immigrant missing the tastes of home, offers health beverages such as Hibiscus and Lemongrass drinks and cooking sauces for the iconic Jollof rice dish.

Headquartered in Whitby with contracts with grocery stores across Ontario and the Atlantic provinces, Taltis Foods will use the government funds to build a more “resilient” workforce and plan an expansion.
