What tariffs could mean to Nevada and its largest trading partner [Video]

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -On the first day of the Nevada Legislature, Senate Republicans met with the media to discuss their priorities for the 83rd Legislature.

They took questions, and Senator Ira Hansen was more than willing to discuss potential 25% tariffs on Canadian goods and services—considering Canada is Nevada’s largest trading partner.

“The reality is this,” said Hansen. “We have a tremendous lumber industry in the northwest we don’t need to import lumber. We have a huge energy sector in the United States that’s been hamstrung basically by policies that prevented their producing the oils and fuels right here in this country. We don’t need Canadian oils.”
