Winter’s grip may be loosening, but southern Ontario isn’t quite ready to trade snow boots for sneakers and heavy coats for lighter layers just yet.

March is shaping up to be a month of unpredictable swings with snowstorms, chilly days and a few early hints of warmer weather in the mix, according to a tried and true prognosticator of the weather.

The Farmers’ Almanac predicts the month kicks off with a wintry reminder as sunshine sticks to northern areas, while southern Ontario braces for heavy snow and brisk conditions from March 1 to 3.

From March 4 to 10, snow will continue to fall across northern regions with flurries popping up in eastern parts of the province. Temperatures will stay stubbornly below seasonal averages.
