What’s closed and open on Family Day 2025 in Burlington, Oakville, Milton [Video]

Family Day, a holiday that is observed in Ontario, falls on Monday, Feb. 17.

In Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills, some businesses and offices will remain open but the majority are shutting down for the day to give workers a long weekend.

Here’s a list of what is open and closed to help you plan.

Open:

  • Many restaurants will be open for dining and takeout, but call ahead
  • Most convenience stores and smaller stores
  • Most drug stores including Shoppers Drug Marts
  • Movie theatres
  • Canada Post (mail pick-up and delivery will not be affected)
  • Federal government offices
  • Some Starbucks and Tim Hortons (hours may vary at different locations)
  • Most community centres in Burlington are open for swimming.
  • Tansley Woods Community Centre is open for family fitness and family games
  • Skating at Burlington Rotary Centennial Pond is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Glen Abbey and Iroquois Ridge library branches in Oakville will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
