Police have laid charges against a Brampton truck driver and a Mississauga company after two wheels came off a transport truck’s trailer on an Ontario highway.
The traffic stop happened on May 12 around 5:30 p.m. an officer with the James Bay OPP detachment was on patrol on Highway 11 in Mattice-Val Côté, approximately 230 kilometres west of Timmins.
That’s when police say they witnessed two wheels come off a transport truck which also caught fire.
Police extinguished the blaze and an investigation revealed that the front axle hub on the trailer’s passenger side “had suffered a complete failure, resulting in the fire and wheel separation.”
A 27-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with multiple offences including driver commercial motor vehicle with a major defect in drawn vehicle and fail to accurately complete daily inspection report.
