Looking to free up more experience gaining ice time for their younger, developing players, the Regina Pats have traded veteran 20-year-old forward Tye Spencer to the Wenatchee Wild.
For Spencer, the Pats receive a 7th round draft pick in 2024.
“The priority in this deal was to give a great kid, the opportunity to finish his career in the WHL, and open up further opportunities for our group of young forwards,” Pats’ general manager Alan Millar said in a news release.
Spencer, a Saskatoon product, was originally drafted in the third round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft by the Kamloops Blazers. The Pats acquired his services via trade in January 2022.
So far in 2024-25, Spencer has nine goals and 12 assists in 33 games.
