GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — More than 50 wildfires burning in the Saskatchewan province of Canada brought a batch of wildfire smoke to the upper levels of the atmosphere in West Michigan Wednesday.

The smoke is most evident at sunrise and sunset and can provide a more vibrant appearance to the horizon. You may notice a bit of haze from time-to-time Wednesday in what will otherwise be cloud-free skies for most of the region.

The smoke hanging aloft doesn’t appear to pose any significant concerns at the ground level: The Air Quality Index has been oscillating between “good” and “moderate” on the scale.

More smoke may accompany colder air establishing in the region this weekend.
