Will Hawaii’s tourism hit record levels this year? | Local [Video]

HONOLULU (Island News) — Visitors to Hawaii already spend more than they did during peak pre-pandemic levels.

State visitor arrival numbers are also getting closer to pre-pandemic levels, but economists estimate it will be another two years before they reach those levels, as long as Hawaii is not hit with unexpected challenges.

Canadians Haiden Edwards and Brieanna Patterson, came here to celebrate their tenth anniversary.

For them, Hawaii was a dream destination.

Hawaii’s economy is closer to returning to pre-pandemic levels thanks to an increase in visitors where they are already spending more than they did before the pandemic when they travel to the islands.

“It is absolutely gorgeous. The first day I was just walked around slacked jawed that I was in Hawaii right now. It has been a awesome experience and exciting to be here,” said Edwards.

These Canadians are soaking up the sunshine, but they are also getting burned by the high currency conversion to U.S. dollars.
