WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A set of new tariffs proposed by the Trump administration that are set to go into effect Saturday could affect prices here in the Cape Fear region.
Starting February 1, The White House said they’ll place a 25% tariff on items from Mexico and Canada, and a 10% tariff on items from China.
Musa Agil owns three gas stations in Southeastern North Carolina. He says his big fear right now is gas prices will go up because of the tariffs. Canada specifically supplies a lot of oil to the U.S., as much as four million barrels a day.
