The highly anticipated acute care hospital project is officially ahead of schedule, which means shovels could hit the ground sooner than expected.
Windsor Regional Hospital has issued a request for proposals for a construction manager to lead Phase 1 of the “mega-hospital” project, a step the team was scheduled to reach this coming spring.
“I’d rather be ahead than behind. So clearly, being in front of it is a lot better feeling. And to move it forward, we all have our personal experiences—even trying to put a deck on the back of your house, how difficult that might be,” joked Windsor Regional Hospital president David Musyj. “You can just imagine what a close-to-2-million-square-foot project looks like in a hospital setting. With the government’s support and the government’s pushing, we’re out to tender in 2024, which was not on anyone’s bingo card.”
