A 15-year-old male was arrested at Winnipeg’s Kildonan Place mall over the weekend after he was found to be in possession of a loaded 3D-printed gun.
It happened around 3 p.m. on Saturday after the mall’s security guards told Winnipeg police officers about a group of males causing a disturbance.
While officers were getting the suspects to leave Kildonan Place, they noticed “irregular shapes” on one of the male’s clothing, prompting a search from officers.
During the search, police found a loaded 3D-printed 9mm Glock-style handgun with a polymer side and a magazine with three rounds of ammunition.
The 15-year-old was arrested and faces several charges, including possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized. The teen is in custody.
Winnipeg police note that during the holiday season, it has increased its visibility and presence in busy shopping areas.
