Winter weather could impact some flights out of Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga on Thursday.
Overnight snow has made for poor driving conditions and school bus cancellations in southern Ontario. Environment and Climate Change Canada predicted an “impactful” weather system bringing a mix of freezing rain, snow, blowing snow and strong wind starting Wednesday night and into Thursday.
Freezing drizzle, ice pellets and three to five cm of snow are expected Thursday, Pearson Airport said in a post on X.
“A traffic management initiative is in place to ensure safe aircraft movements, which may impact some flights,” airport officials said.
Most aircraft will go through the de-icing facility before takeoff.
“The extra time spent on de-icing is built into your flight plan by your airline,” officials said. “Our teams are already out using plows, sweepers and blowers to keep the runways clear. We recommend checking your flight status with your airline.”
