Winterhawks sign picks from CHL Import Draft [Video]

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – The Portland Winterhawks have signed their two selections from July’s CHL Import Draft to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements for the 2024-25 season, the team announced Friday.

The CHL Import Draft is an annual event where teams from the three leagues comprising the Canadian Hockey League select players born outside of the United States or Canada.

Ondřej Štěbeták was the team’s first round selection in the draft, the 57th pick overall. The goaltender spend most of the season playing for Czechia’s HC Dukla Jihlava U17 team, also earning a three-game stint with the U20 team.
