Wolf relocated to Colorado dies in Wyoming, CPW says [Video]

Although the wolf was transferred to Colorado, it is normal for wolves to travel long distances to find mates or food.

DENVER — A wolf that was relocated to Colorado earlier this year has died in a neighboring state, according to a release from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).

On Friday, CPW said it was notified that gray wolf 2513, a male, died in Wyoming on Wednesday. According to the agency, the wolf was part of the group from British Columbia that was introduced to Colorado in January.

Although the wolf was transferred to Colorado, it is normal for wolves to travel long distances, including into other states, to find mates or food, according to CPW.

The circumstances surrounding the wolf’s death are unknown. 

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is reportedly returning the wolf’s tracking collar, according to CPW, but Wyoming state law does not allow for additional details to be shared. CPW said it would not …
