Woman flees police in marked security vehicle in Whitby, Ontario [Video]

A Quebec woman faces charges after a security vehicle was stolen in Whitby.

The marked security vehicle was taken from 625 Victoria St. E. in Whitby at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Monday, Durham Regional Police said.

Officers responded to the theft-in-progress and learned an unidentified woman had fled in the vehicle, police said.

Police said officers quickly located the vehicle nearby and attempted a traffic stop but the driver refused to comply.

As the vehicle slowed for a red light, officers successfully boxed it in and arrested a woman without incident, police said.

Jessica Pomerleau, 40, of Quebec, faces several charges including theft of a motor vehicle, impaired driving, flight from a peace officer, and mischief/damage of property under $5,000.

She was held for a bail hearing.
