A woman is dead after she was struck by a train early Friday morning in Chilliwack, B.C.

Investigators are still working to identify the victim, who was struck near the Yale Road overpass and McIntosh Drive, according to a statement from the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP detachment.

Frontline officers were called to the area for a report of a pedestrian struck by a train at 3:19 a.m., police said.

“Upon arrival, frontline members located a deceased female in the area, who at this time has not been identified,” Cpl. Carmen Kiener told CTV News.

“The incident does not appear suspicious in nature, however, police continue to investigate the matter and make efforts to identify the female,” Kiener added.

Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene at 3:23 a.m., including one carrying advanced care paramedics, according to B.C. Emergency Health Services.
