A defeated new mom from Ontario, Canada, made a late-night call to ask her mom for help—but nothing could prepare her for what she said next.

Leah Post and her husband were struggling with a teething baby for the first time. The new parents tried everything—rocking, feeding, lullabies—but nothing was working.

“We were both exhausted, emotionally and physically, and reached that point every parent dreads: where you’re out of ideas and running on fumes,” Post told Newsweek. “We felt overwhelmed and defeated.”

In that moment, Post said that she just needed to hear her mom’s voice. “I wasn’t even sure what I was asking for; maybe some advice, maybe just a space to vent,” Post said. Within minutes, her mom, Debbi Sluys, was at the door.
