Police in Kelowna say a death they began investigating back in June has now been confirmed as “non-criminal in nature.”
A 28-year-old woman was found dead on the morning of June 21 in the lagoon portion of Waterfront Park.
At the time, Kelowna RCMP said they were unsure of the cause of the woman’s death, and that – as a result – the detachment’s serious crime unit had taken over the investigation.
“We now have the necessary evidence and reports to conclude this woman’s death as non-criminal,” said Cpl. Michael Gauthier in a news release Wednesday, nearly six months after the woman’s body was found.
“Our responsibility is to conduct a complete and thorough investigation, this takes time. Our condolences and thoughts remain with her family.”
